A dental crown, or cap, is a type of dental restoration device used to cover up a tooth or dental implant at and above the gum line. A crown is essentially the new outside covering of a tooth. Dental crowns are usually implemented to strengthen a decaying tooth, restore a chipped tooth, or improve the overall appearance of a tooth.
Our office has recently installed CEREC® equipment, which provides for on-site creation of natural-looking ceramic fillings – in a single visit. We use a digital camera to take an optical impression of the damaged tooth, design the appropriate restoration using CAD software and mill tooth-colored ceramic on-site in about 10 minutes. There’s no need for a temporary and return visit. From tooth preparation to placement and bonding, a patient can have his or her smile restored in less than an hour. Find out more information about CEREC here.
Dental crowns have the power to restore a beautiful smile. For more information on crowns, please contact the office for more information.
